What is RenoVote?

RenoVote is a shared workspace for planning a renovation. You collect ideas, vote on them, track the work and the money, and share the story if you want to.

The short version

  • Collect ideas in one place
  • Vote on them together
  • Plan the work in phases and tasks
  • Track what you planned to spend and what you spent
  • Share a public page of your renovation (optional)

How the pieces fit

Think of it as boxes inside boxes:

  • Address: the property you are renovating
  • Project: one renovation at that address, like "Kitchen Remodel"
  • Phases: the stages of a project, like Demo, Rough and Finish
  • Tasks: the jobs inside a phase
  • Ideas: options you are still deciding on

Around those sit a few helpers:

  • Vendors: the contractors and suppliers you work with
  • Floorplan: a drawing of your property with named rooms
  • Budget: planned versus actual costs
  • Showcase: the public page you can publish
  • Members: the people you work with

A typical journey

  1. Add your property and create a project.
  2. Split the work into phases and tasks.
  3. Drop ideas into the Ideas page and let everyone vote.
  4. Approve the winners and link them to tasks.
  5. Record costs as you spend.
  6. Publish a showcase if you want to share the progress.
